Morgan Pressel - LPGA Brat

Michelle Wie continued her impressive performance at LPGA events this weekend at the Fields Open in Hawaii. Michelle shot a solid 66 in the final round, just missing getting into overtime by a stroke. Wie finished 3rd, in front of some hefty competition including Creamer, Kerr, Gulbis, and Ochoa. Considering that Creamer is probably the hottest LPGA golfer for the last year, it's amazing that Wie continues to dominate her with a head-to-head record of 9-3-1! But more importantly, Wie also put that brat Morgan "The Pouting" Pressel in her place.

Pressel has been earning a reputation for being a loud-mouth, especially when it comes to the topic of Wie. After Pressel finished ahead of Wie at last year's U.S. Open, Pressel sounded off on Wie, "she's proven she can't win in pressure situations going into the final round...The biggest tournament in women's golf, she shoots 82...She falters at the end." Pressel continued her jealous-tinged shots at Wie after learning about the latter's endorsement contracts with Nike and Sony saying, "She's going to make something like $10 million? For what? For winning one tournament?!" The Wie-dissing surfaced most recently during a conference call for the Fields Open, when Pressel said that Wie should have to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open instead of getting an exemption.

Pressel is often compared to Dottie Pepper because of their similarly fiery personalities and body types. However, I don't recall that Dottie ever directed her animosity towards an individual for an extended period. Clearly Pressel has a lot of beef with Wie and there's no sign that she will let it go. To say that it's past tiring is an understatement.

Pressel had an opportunity to back up her words by beating Wie this weekend. She even got her wish to be paired with Wie in the final pressure-packed round. But ironically, it wasn't Wie that "falters at the end", it was Pressel. Wie spanked her soundly by 5 strokes. Just like any other spoiled little brat who doesn't get what they want, Pressel could only pout and cry about it...wah wah wah! Wie could have used this opportunity to take a shot at Morgan, but she took the high road saying, "She (Morgan) is a nice girl. She played good, kind of struggled a bit at the end, but she's a very talented player. I think she'll do really well this year."

Let this be a lesson to Morgan Pressel and the other brash and immature golf upstarts: just shut your trap and let your game do the talking. Oh, by the way Morgan, you are now down 1-3 head-to-head vs. Wie. Talking smack works a lot better when you have a winning record.

Ok, so she cries a lot. At least she cares, and I'm not saying it's right to direct animosity towards Michelle, but I honestly agree with Morgan in that Michelle should've had to qualify for the U.S. Open. Everyone was thinking it, it's just that Morgan had the courage to say it. I've played against Morgan, and with Morgan and I know for a fact that she is NOT a brat. Stop bashing on Morgan; what's your record head-to-head against her?

Easy to sit from afar and write this about Morgan, who never ducks any competition which is more than can be said anbout Wie who you are defending.

Let's compare straight up victories between Wie and Pressel. Oh wait, that can't be done because Wie has NEVER WON ANYTHING! Whereas Pressel has competed and won at the amatuer level before turning pro, something Wie managed to avoid so she wouldn't lose to all these players that are allegedly beneath her. And notice that whenever the 'talented' Wie enters a mens tourney, she always makes sure it's one that none of the top players are at. You can start dogging Morgan for what she says about Wie as soon as Wie wins ANYTHING.

Easy to sit from afar and write that Wie hasn't won anything when she grew up in Hawaii where travelling to junior tournaments is practically impossible for lower to middle-class families.

Imagine the time and money it takes to travel from Hawaii to a mainland tournament that lasts several days. The last time I checked, I only get 2 weeks of vacation per year. That would be good for maybe two tournaments?

Put another way, if all of the major junior tournaments were held in Hawaii, how many junior tournaments do you think Morgan Pressel would have won? Exactly, it would be too cost prohibitive to even enter.

Please--- Morgan is just a jealous brat who is now experiencing real competition and not the 8 year olds she played against in the amateurs.

Morgan missed a cut last week on the LPGA tour and followed that with another final round meltdown and finished in 45th place at the Ultra Michelob.

In LPGA events-Michelle is 4-1 against Morgan--nuff said!

Wei, Wei, Wei, will she ever win? Is this the same wei that wants to be a man, I mean on the men's tour. Would she have to win on the LPGA before she goes onto the PGA?

Wie & Pressel are young and it's obvious that they get advise from mature and experienced adults. Wie from her parents and Pressel from her grandparents. Wies parents are off the wall nut cases pushing her to play in PGA evengts which in the long run will take her career into limbo maybe someday she will will make a cut but she will never win. On the other hand Pressel is on the right track. She will win on the LPGA Tour and she has a great opportunity to be a star for many years. If Wies handlers don't wise up she will wind up doing trick shot exibitions between halfs at Harlem Globtrotter events.
